Al McCoy founded McCoy Millwork, a moulding and stair supply store, in 1946

In 1946 Alton McCoy opened a lumber business in a small Northwest Portland storefront. Since then, McCoy Millwork has grown to be the finest moulding and stair supply store in the area. Offering a broad range of finish millwork, we inventory hundreds of mouldings specifically selected to provide historically correct products for Portland’s unique home styles. When choosing our inventory, we look to provide products that suit common home designs, including Craftsman (sometimes known as Arts and Crafts), Victorian, Queen Anne, Tudor, Contemporary and Mid Century.

Some of the products we have made specifically for our unique Portland architecture include:

Vintage porch rail, shake moulding, crown and bed mould for an historically accurate front entry or porch.
Mixed grain fir lumber, traditionally used for trim, mantels, and box beams since the 1900’s.
Mantels, specifically sized for your home, fully assembled in our shop and ready for finish and installation.

Over the years McCoy Millwork and other partners, including Architectural Heritage Center, have grown to be important resources for homeowners and professionals desiring to preserve and restore Portland’s historic homes.

McCoy Millwork has an extensive showroom staffed by friendly sales professionals dedicated to helping you. We have outside sales personnel ready to visit your job site for measures and help create custom moulding and stair supply packages, stair design packages and custom-built mantels.

Whether your project is new construction, an historic restoration, or a small remodel all of us at McCoy Millwork are committed to providing quality millwork, expert advice, and exceptional service with the goal of fulfilling your dreams of a beautiful home.

Customer Testimonials:

"I always tell my clients McCoy Millwork is the quintessential place to find everything they need to build stairs, balustrades or to add elegant detail and millwork to their home. They also carry a line of columns and architectural products for exterior as well as interior. I've always found their products and service to be exemplary and complete.

Many of their mouldings replicate the older homes I work in. This is an essential in my specialty finish carpentry business.

Most of all, the people that work at McCoy Millwork are the friendliest hardest working folks around. You will get no better personal attention than at McCoy Millwork."

-Charlie Riggs, Howling Dog Design & Construction LLC

"When it came time to replace the porch floor on our 1920's house, we knew we wanted quality lumber. Luckily, our window guy told us about McCoy. The tongue and groove lumber we got is gorgeous, and went in beautifully.

They have everything else you would need for a vintage house--beautiful moldings, railings, screen doors, etc. What really stunned me were their lovely mantels in a multitude of styles--if you have an ugly mantel, you need to hit McCoy stat!"

-Corrie H, Portland, OR

"As a stair builder I need a location to send my clients to see samples of stair parts and systems. McCoy's has a huge showroom for stair parts and moldings. If you need ideas on what to do with your stairs this is the place to visit. They can also recommend carpenters and contractors for you projects or help the DIY'ers. Their service is above standards and if they don't have it they can point you in the right direction. It is worth the trip."
